The fabric is soft and smooth, not at all "wool-like." The fit is loose and flowy but not sloppy looking. Will be great for layering over or under. The cuffs on the sleeves will keep them in place when slipping another layer over. I'm looking forward to using this hiking and backpacking. I am 5'3" 115 lb and size small fits me great.
CanadaFoehn, you really hit the mark with this top. The Keats Merino long sleeve is hands down my favourite top in a long time. I more or less haven't taken it off since receiving it. Perfect fit; the length, sleeves, width and neckline, slightly boxy fit while being feminine, comfortable and functional. The warm grey colour is amazing, will go with everything. I am 5'5 and 130 lbs athletic build with fairly wide shoulders, the medium fits me perfectly. I would recommend this top over and over again.
