These are great pants -- I also own two other types of Foehn pants. These are a cross between a pair of jeans, carhardts, and climbing pants. So they can really go in any direction -- bike to work, build a boat and boulder -- all in the same day. The fabric has a great feel and the cut allows movement. discreet pockets are helpful. Given that they have cotton -- they will not work for extended trips in the backcountry (weeks of rain) -- but not all life happens there... 10+ a brilliant pair of pants
Material on these is super durable and holds up well. I also love the fit is more accommodating for athletic body type. Only complaint is the front pockets both developed holes around the same time - perhaps the fabric on this could be improved to match the durability found everywhere else.
I was recommended this brand from a friend some years ago and am grateful that I had them in mind when the time came to replace my climbing pants. I love that the pants have a higher rise than most men's pants—it really helps keep them in place when wearing a harness. Keep in mind that they do run a little bit smaller than expected due to the high rise (I'm 5'11" / 160 lbs. and usually fit a 30" waist, but the 28" fits perfectly in these.) I haven't groveled my way through any off-widths while wearing them quite yet, but they have held up to all sorts of other abuses: bushes, sharp limestone, playing with dogs, etc. The only two things that I'd recommend: 1. An internal belt, as that's more comfortable than a regular belt with a harness on. Not really a huge issue if you get the right size, though. 2. More colorways, as I need an excuse to buy another pair.
My second purchase and very happy so far. My first purchase was the Men's Brise Schoeller® Pant - Charcoal which super comfy. I might need try the Mtb pants for upcoming fall riding in Squamish.
I couldn’t see myself spending $140 on a pair of pants, but at 50% off, I decided to take the plunge. At 5‘8“ and 165 pounds, I am a dead on 30 x 32 in Levi’s jeans. The 30 inch waist on these pants fits me perfectly thanks to the spandex stretch woven into the Cordura. These are clearly harder wearing and more burly than any jeans I own, and I look forward to wearing them when the temperatures get a little cooler. They are a little to stay out for summer wear, but I think they will be perfect in the fall and winter.
